The Assessment Process: Pre Primary – Year 9
Each student is assessed on the year level they have most recently completed at school. For example, a student commencing year 7 will complete the year 6 assessment for numeracy, spelling and reading.
Each assessment is based on what a student is expected to know at the end of that year level according to the Australian Curriculum. Core concepts in literacy and numeracy will be assessed, and the results will indicate whether the student is achieving at the standard year level or highlight any gaps that need to be addressed. The assessor may choose to assess further levels below or above the initial year level depending on how the student performs.
Once completed, the diagnostic assessment report will display an accurate result of the student’s academic understanding and ability thus allowing Learning Pod educators to plan specific content based on concepts the student needs to work on initially.
